The EDIAQI Pilots and Campaigns category documents the large-scale real-world test-beds and targeted experimental campaigns executed under Work Package 4 (Task 4.2). The data gathered across these diverse microenvironments provide the primary empirical evidence underpinning the entire EDIAQI project.

Covering educational facilities, public offices, residential buildings, healthcare facilities, and transportation across varying climatic regions of Europe, these field deployments combine continuous sensor logging, reference monitoring, and occupant perception feedback.

The EDIAQI Test Grounds

• Pilots:
  • P1 Ferrara Pilot (Italy): Community-driven multi-scenario monitoring (schools, offices, residential) using low-cost sensor networks and behavioral feedback.
  • P2 Estonian Pilot (TalTech / Thinnect): Big data analytics across more than 50 municipal buildings (schools, daycares, administrative centers) assessing indoor climate dynamics.
  • P3 Zagreb Pilot (Croatia): Observational study linking indoor dust microbiome and low-cost sensor telemetry with 200 asthmatic children from the SCH2021 cohort.
  • P4 Filtration Pilot: Assessment of commercial air purification systems, filter replacement timings, and hybrid flow-field modeling in occupied commercial offices.

  • C1 Sensor Evaluation: Rigorous laboratory chamber testing and calibration of low-cost sensors against reference analyzers at TROPOS and IMROH.
  • C2 Seville Campaign: Physical-chemical IAQ characterization and ventilation habits across schools, public transit, and residential homes in Southern Europe.
  • C3 Vilnius Campaign: Urban aerosol characterization, source apportionment of primary traffic emissions, and school-children personal PM2.5/black carbon exposure logging.
